A Singular Song

"I" stands alone,
Self-important and tall;
"I" must be first
Because "I" knows it all.

"I" can't have fault.
Or admit "I" is wrong;
"I" can't change opinions,
"I" wouldn't be strong!

But after a time
"I" achieves victorious defeat;
Being right can be lonely,
With one's friends in retreat.

And if "I" is inspired,
To help change "I's" decree;
"I" can climb up from "I's" rut,
And choose to be wee.
